Dr Michelle Scheepers grew up in South Africa in the port city of Durban. She graduated from Medical School in 2003 and practised rural medicine for a number of years before doing her post graduate Specialization in Anesthesiology. She was top of her class, graduating in 2011. Her clinical interest is in surgical prehabilitation and assisting people their optimize health preoperatively. She is actively involved in the UBC teaching program and has also done further studies in Quality Improvement Science. She graduated from the BCPSQC Clinician Academy in 2018, and from IHI as an Improvement Advisor in 2021. She is currently an MBA Candidate with RRU. She and her husband emigrated to Canada in 2014 with their two children. They own and operate an apple orchard in Summerland and enjoy kayaking, hiking and camping as a family.
